The youth are at home in the main stadium for the FA Youth 2nd round cup tie against Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday evening, 7:45pm kick-off. Let's see as many of you as possible come down and support the lads in their cup run. It's going to be a tough game, the winners will travel to Hull City.

Looks like it will be a good game as we are the supposed underdogs and the incentive of the next round away at the KC stadium against Hull City,give the lads your support tomorrow night.

I would go, but I'm not paying £3 or £5 too watch it!!

Does anyone know how the pitch is looking today? We had a heavy frost in 'the Brook' this morning, and although it's nice and sunny now in Bedford it's still bloody cold! Is there any danger of a postponement?

Matt told me the issue was more the fog rather than the frost this morning, so I think it will be OK - but obviously it depends on whether there are any issues in the next few hours.

That must be a good result surely? Wonder if they will play at the KC.

Does Gilly play up front now I'm guessing? He always used to be a centre half!

The Youth Team beat Wycombe 1-0 tonight to reach the third round of the FA Youth Cup for the second time in our history.
The first half was a very tight affair although we were slightly the better side without really creating anything too threatening. Wycombe were denied by several tight looking offside calls and James Broadbent in goal had to be quick off his line on a few occasions when they did manage to break through our high defensive line. We looked the most likely side to make the breakthrough, but on several occasions our final ball didn't quite come off. Eventually we got the goal that our play had just about deserved, when Aaron King's inswinging corner was headed home at the back post by Jake Gillingwater in first half stoppage time. It's now two rounds running that Gilly has scored the only goal of the game to send us through. The only sour note from the first half was an injury to Callum Earls who was caught late by Wycombe's number 9 and had to be stretchered off. Earls did come onto the pitch on crutches at full time, but he didn't appear to be in too much pain, so hopefully the injury isn't as bad as it first looked.

The second half started brightly enough for us with some good possession inside the Wycombe half, but they very soon got on top and dominated the majority of the half. Broadbent had to make a couple of routine saves but held onto the ball well in slippery conditions, and on a few occasions the Wycombe attack got in behind our defence but took one touch too many and allowed a defender to get back and deny them. We did create a couple of openings on the counter attack, but once again our final pass wasn't quite good enough and we weren't able to trouble the Wycombe 'keeper. Broadbent 'did a Turley' at one point, trying to shepherd the ball out for a goal kick near the corner flag and getting robbed by an attacker, but he fouled the Wycombe player to stop him from capitalising on the unguarded goal, earning himself a booking in the process. The Diamonds' defended in numbers and did so superbly for the majority of the half, Gillingwater in particular making some brilliant blocks to prevent the Wycombe strikers getting in a clean shot at goal. Special mention must go to Jake Woolley as well, who run himself into the ground playing as a lone striker for most of the second half.
Eventually the final whistle blew and confirmed our place in the third round, and a trip to the KC Stadium (not named after our very own Keith Cousins! ;) ) to face Hull City. The date is yet to be confirmed for this game.
