They still sound bullish in that article - but it's not on their official site.

WORKINGTON Reds have been forced to cancel tonight’s long-awaited County Cup tie with Greystoke due to problems with the floodlights.

Reds face a bill for hundreds of pounds as they need to replace damaged bulbs in the lighting towers. The problems arose after melting ice seeped its way into the £80-a-time bulbs.

Chairman Humphrey Dobie said he was disappointing to be forced to cancel the cup clash.

He added: “It is disappointing for us because we had finally got a date set when the weather wasn’t going to cause us problems.

“Then we find that some of our bulbs aren’t working. It is down to the melting ice damaging the bulbs. We have some in a store but we are having to order others in time for tomorrow’s game with Rushden & Diamonds.”

Specialist equipment is being brought in to correct the problem tomorrow and Dobie expects no more problems before the money-spinning tie with The Diamonds.

He said: “Tomorrow night’s game will go ahead as planned. We will have everything sorted out by then.”

Reds needed to move quickly to fix the problems because Rushden are due to set off for tomorrow’s game this afternoon. They will stop in Weatherby, Yorkshire, overnight before travelling to West Cumbria.

Why are they staying at Weatherby of all places, it's nearly three hours from Workington???

I'm praying that the game does get cancelled tomorrow, and rescheduled for next Tuesday. I would have gone to the Workington game on it's original date, but can't make it on a Tuesday night, and next Tuesday I'm down in Plymouth with work (GREEN ARMY!) and will miss the Wrexham game!

Come on footballing gods, be kind to me!

Apparently if the game gets called off 7 times, the venue is switched. This is according to an article on the Maidstone V Histon game which has been postponed 6 times so far.

Interesting comment on Workington's forum...

"According to Walshy and News and Star R&D are stopping at Wetherby tonight. This is therefore outside the limit set under competion rules where they can cliam overnight expenses of us, so are we declining to reimburse them I wonder?"

That was an error in the local paper - they stayed at Weatheral, near Carlisle.
