As ID explained, there are a lot of spammers trying to get onto this board after the amount of views it had over the past few weeks. I'm sure it'l get cleaned up in due course.

I would agree with that, as every thread has a number in the title

I had temporarily relaxed the registration settings in an attempt to help clear the backlog of (legitimate) people trying to register, and prevent further backlogs building up. Unfortunately this meant that it was easier for spammers to join, as you can see.

I've undone what I did earlier, so hopefully we won't be getting any new spammers (although some old ones may be hiding and waiting to post - I'll have a look and try to kill them before they strike) and we've gone back to the previous setting (which is safer, but harder for people to register quickly due to my schedule and/or laziness ;) ).

Despite being the admin of this site I'm not actually a computer genius and (while I try to do my best!) most of what I do is through intuition or experiment. If anyone is aware of any phpbb programmes with which I can reduce spammers registering please let me know
