Re: Simon Evans
Does anyone else think we don't really need 4 goal keepers 3 if you don't count lance? Especially when 3 of them are all really very young and inexperienced, we need one aged around 25-26 and that can kick the ball inside the stadium.

We need somebody who is going to challenge Joe Day for the number 1 spot, and it looks to me like that is exactly what we have signed.

Agree with Steve on this one. Joe will benefit from the competition. We can't rely on Key to do a job in the sticks, with respect - he's too old and not in bliding shape. Broadbent is a youth team player that was simply registered as a precaution after the death of Dale. In my eyes we only had 1 goalkeeper.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

I don't think for a second that JE would waste valuable and limited funds doing that.oliv272 wrote:.... I just hope he isn't another GK to fill a number.

I wouldn't really want to throw Broadbent in the deep end at this stage in his career if Joe was injured.oliv272 wrote:Does anyone else think we don't really need 4 goal keepers 3 if you don't count lance? Let's see how this guy does. He certainly adds a bit of competition, which can only be healthy. Certainly you've got a point about age, but until he plays we won't know. Regarding the kicking, I honestly thought Dale's kicking was his only weak point at times. It's something that will come with playing regularly.

Re: Simon Evans
I agree with the majority here in that he'll provide competition, which I see as a good thing. Key and Broadbent were just registered in case of emergencies
Re: Simon Evans
Agreed, and to be fair, I don't think Lance is a number two. Not sure about this guy tbh, and in fairness I hope we don't see him! A young guy who can challenge Joe is a good signing imo.Mad Dog wrote:I wouldn't really want to throw Broadbent in the deep end at this stage in his career if Joe was injured.oliv272 wrote:Does anyone else think we don't really need 4 goal keepers 3 if you don't count lance? On a more general theme, does anyone know if we still have a scouting system that seeks out these players we keep signing? I can remember years ago in the Talbot reign we had a scout, (Cyril lea?) i think, but i cannot believe we have the resources for that now.
It conjours up thoughts of a web site of available players and a championship manager form book, a bit like what happens on here! Seriously, does anyone know how it is done?
