It was Richard Butchers funeral on Wednesday, came across this piece and just thought i'd share it;

Just returned from Butch's funeral service at Sincil Bank. There were hundreds of friends, colleagues, family and fans of the clubs he has played for. Everyone sat in the Echo stand and the service was conducted from between the dug outs.

The coffin was carried in by Richard's brother, Futch, Paul Morgan, Simon Yeo, Mazza and Gary Simpson, to a loud round of applause.

As well as a prayer from Andrew Vaughan, there was a tribute from the Macclesfield chairman, so sad that he has had to come to Lincoln twice in less than a year to do this.

There was then a chance for Futch, Yeo, Mazza and Morgs to read out stories of their time with Butch, mainly about their times at Ritzy's and his reputation for being "careful" with his money, apparently he could go for a night out with £50.00 and return with £60.00. Futch, in particular had to fight back the tears.

What came across throughout the afternoon, was what a great guy he was, as a son, husband, friend, colleague and hero.

A singer sang 2 songs which were special to Butch and his wife and the coffin was carried back out down the tunnel, to another rousing round of applause.

There was not a dry eye in the house and it was a fitting tribute to a true gentleman of the game who was loved by so many.

RIP Butch

So sad, has there been any news on what caused Butch's death, I've not heard a whisper?
