Why I don't care (an article)

I came across the rdfcnet. The forums are gone, but the news page is still alive and kicking including a number of articles. They offer a snapshot of information from our history and they are interesting when you consider what was said then and where we are now.

I found this six year old article particularly interesting given the talk of negativity around this board the last three month. Forget it is about the Wobbs since the jist of it is still something that we could all take on board if we have not already done so:
Why I dont care What Is Being said About us...

Many of you have seen the abuse / banter that we have had to endure from NTFC fans on our site, (TownArsy, Stoney, and Wolfie to name a few) so I have decided to show people exactly why I dont care what the Wobblers fans say.

I don't care if we go back to the conference or if we manange to reach the premiership, neither matters to me...

We have done really well to get this far and no-one can take that from us even if we end up in the depths of the non-league again playing teams like Stamford week in week out. I will still be happy with our success. We have made ourselves some history to be proud of.

So what if we go bankrupt? It doesnt matter.... So what if we sell players and crash down the leagues? So what if we get less crowds than cobblers?? Do we care?? So what if we haven't beaten NTFC?? So what if we get relgated next year and NTFC end up above us again? None of this matters to me!

Our aim back in 1992 was to reach the football league, and we have not only done that, but exceeded it by getting promoted to Division Two. I know from now until the end of my life that we have actually suceeded and no team, fan, opposition or obsitcle that we will come across will ever be able to take that away.

If in ten years time we are playing in the top flight, or against amature opposition, or in fact if we dont exist, I know that we have made our mark on the history of football in this country. No matter how big or small the mark is. I dont care who we are playing, in five, ten, fifteen years, I will still be able to hold my head high and say "I am A Rushden and Diamonds Fan."

You see Cobblers are the ones with the disadvantage.

They are the ones that I pity, as in the great county of Northamptonshire, they are the ONLY team who can fail now.

WE have achieved what we set out to do and as I have said numerous times now- What we do from now doesn't matter!!

If we went into Non League we would would already have been successful, whereas they have been in the League so long that relegation into the conference would be a disaster for them and a failure for the club. For us, it would just be going back to our roots.

We may go up the leagues, we may go down them, but whatever happens, we know that for one year at least, We were the pride of Northamptonshire, the best team in the county, no matter what anyone thinks, we made it. Even if it doesn't last much longer or even if it does... we still made it.

Kev ran our one and only fans game against Kidderminster about 4 years ago. We lost 5-1 but they said they were the best team we had played that season!

I remember playing with Mabbo and Durston as I played with them for Wellingborough, and played with ****** also. Apart from that, and Kev, i've got no idea who played!

I'm sure his dad still goes to games, at least I think its his dad.. and I'm sure I saw Kev at the K*ttering game too.

I think ****** has gone back to supporting his first love, Watford, always said he would eventually end up watching them over Rushden & Diamonds.
