Solihull Moors manager Bob Faulkner has died at the age of 60 following a long battle with cancer.

Faulkner took over as manager of Moor Green on Boxing Day 1985, with the club later merging with Solihull Borough to become Solihull Moors.

His involvement with the Birmingham-based club slowly decreased over the last 18 months as he underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Faulkner saw his last game on 11 December - a 1-1 draw against Nuneaton.

Faulkner guided the Moors to promotion in 1988 and 2000, before leading the club into Conference North.

Having taken charge of his 1,000th game on the final day of the 2002/03 campaign, he was understood to be the longest-serving manager in non-league football.

Prior to joining the Moors, Hollywood-based Faulkner, who leaves a wife, Margaret, and his two sons Craig and Marc, was assistant manager at Bromsgrove Rovers.

Tuesday night's Blue Square Bet North game at Redditch has been postponed as a mark of respect.

RIP. :(

Presumably he was in charge when we played them in the FA Cup a few years ago?
