Out for the rest of the season.

Feel sorry for him, Just when he gets himself fit again something happens! Looks like we will be definitely needing that extra loan striker now.

Extremely frustrating for us but him moreso i expect. His injury problems are going to hamper his chances of staying on beyond this season i reckon. Edinburgh showed with Downer that he's not afraid to let players leave if they're not representing value for money.

I think it was actually Downer's decision to leave at the end of last season, because he could no longer cope with full time football. I'm fairly sure JE offered him a new contract.

Too injury prone, such a shame. He should go imo for that reason alone.

He's had one injury hit season, I hardly think that's cause to write him off just yet. Especially as his first injury was caused by a poor challenge in the pre-season friendly at Wingate, which resulted in a broken foot which was then not picked up in the initial x-ray.

I definitely remember JE saying that Downer didn't represent value for money because of his injury problems. Perhaps he was just offered a far worse deal as a result? Or perhaps I have just made it up ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure he has had at least two injuries every season he's been here. Yeah, he's scored good goals when he's fit, but whats better value for money - a striker who plays 10 games a season and scores at a ratio of 1:2(either due to indifferent form or injuries) or a consistent striker who remains fit and scores at a ratio of 1:4. In my eyes, I'd rather have the latter as value for money, especially when money is tight. It's a real shame, I get the impression if he put a bit more in he could have been as good as Jackson in terms of goalscoring. Fantastic natural attributes (pace and height) and a fantastic finish pretty much wasted. Sad, especially as he's one of our own.

He does seem injury prone, but he's more of a natural goalscorer than anyone else at the club.
My big fear, if we were to release him, is that he will go up the road, score 25 goals next season and be sold for big money.
