Turns out Cowan-Hall would have missed the Histon game so that's perhaps a blessing!

He's only saying what I been saying for a few weeks now. More matches should be played during the period July-October.

Every season now for many years some clubs have to play 5 or so matches over a 10 day period in April to complete their fixtures in time for the play-offs to be held and the recent bad weather over the last couple of seasons has made the situation worse.

Perhaps the penny has finally dropped and clubs will get together and seek changes to the fixture schedule at their AGM.

I don't necessarily think the weathers got worse, I just think the authorities have got a lot fussier due to this ridiculous sue culture. I used to love football games which were on dreadful pitches, they were far more entertaining and 'true football' if you ask me, but hey ho, if the games all about the players healths then so be it.

It's a pointless debate that isn't my main point but I remember times where we played games with puddles on pitches in the centre circle etc.

I highly doubt there's been a substantial increase in rainfall and snowfall/cold temperatures in the last couple of years that's enough to cause this dramatic increase in postponements.
, although I'm sure a resident Meteorologist will prove me wrong .

Just seems that the games going soft.

The weather that we've experienced in the last 2-3 months, snow, frost then followed by excessive rainfall is the worst that I recall since the bad winter in 1978. A bit before your time I reckon. ;)

I think even 3 years ago you wouldn't have seen the postponements you get now.

Last season our game at Mansfield was called off and Mansfield's officials were furious, and Oxford was called off an hour before K/O when it was 8oC because of a 'frozen pitch'.

I think sometimes the refs just can't be arsed.

The Scottish Premier League will be starting their season on the 23rd July next year.

It also costs the club a lot of money as well, with so many game all together you get smaller crowds because people only have so much money
