Please Save My Club

I know a few of you look down on me for supporting two clubs equally, but I do, and I love this club.

I was born in Leeds, hence the love of LUAFC. But, whilst always knowing I supported Leeds, I had no love, or even love, for football before RDFC.

My first game was as a neutral and pretty much doesn't matter, it was the defeat of Doncaster that set up the famous Leeds game, before I even cared about football. From that day I started to follow the results of both teams I love now.

Then, in September 2000, I was taken by my next door neighbour to Hedensford to see us play away in the conference. We won, with Duane scoring, and it was that day I fell in love with football.

I will admit it's not my first sport, but all the sports I love mean a lot to me, football being just behind motorsports.

But RDFC got under my skin.

I've seen so much at Nene Park. Almost every home game between 2000 and 2006, and it is a brilliant thing, with everyone around it I have met being amazing.

I am brand new to the working environment, and as an entry level agency journalist I earn just enough to live on. Therefore I am desperate for people to give to RDFC as I have in the past.

My timid excuse is that I have been a season ticket holder, I have been a turn up on the day and pay supporter and I have given to every sponsorship fund I can (as RD, and I still need details of where to send my money for the Dale Roberts banner from Stu).

Please help save RDFC, it is wonderful and if I wasn't perilously close to having no money myself it would have every penny I can offer.

Save RDFC.

Interesting and well-written account of your gravitation towards the Diamonds. I started supporting because my son used to play in the schools' tournaments held at Nene Park and my first game was a friendly against Arsenal in 1996. I then used to transport him to Nene Park to watch Diamonds and then return to pick him up after the match so decided I may as well stay myself instead of just being 'Dad-the-taxI'
As Stuart is a friend of my son's I've pointed out your request re the banner to his mother so I hope he will contact you.
