What is the back ground on the ground.

I just presumed it was always owned by the Pickerings, thats not the case though, it it?

Was it sold to them 25 years ago, I'm guessing to get the Poppies out of a financial hole?

They had serious financial problems around 1993 following a couple of bad Chairmen in Murphy and then a guy called Mark English who brought in OBN as his CEO. Like Calder he saw the writing on the wall and only stayed 4 months.
They then had to sell their ground to clear their debts and survive which they and did to Ben Pickering a local farmer/landowner based in the Loddington area.
Same situation at Cambridge United about 6 years ago.
