Have no real reason for posting this other than it might cause a bit of debate.
I see in the Chronicle today that Dr Martens are expanding their operations in Northamptonshire to cope with demand, and are looking for a host of new workers. I was - rightly or wrongly - of the belief that Dr Martens wasn't as popular as they were a few years back? Seens as business appears to be picking up, perhaps Griggs fancies taking over a UCL club. ;)

Re: Dr Martens
Is it something the AFC commitee would consider to ask Mr Griggs if he would be an Hon President or something like that, even without a financial commitment of any kind as he spent a lot before ,but he may help with some sponsors from other businesses maybe .
Re: Dr Martens
I'm sorry but i don't agree with approaching Max Griggs as a Hon President, the old Diamonds was his team, the AFC Team will be OUR team, having Max as any sort of official or unofficial title will muddy the waters.

Re: Dr Martens
But then again, without him, Rushden & Diamonds or AFC Rushden & Diamonds would have never existed, it would have just been Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds still if he hadn't done what he did, so I'm thinking Max as Hon President would be a good idea, yes the old club was tarnished but the new club is still carrying on the legacy of the old club (and the previous clubs), so I'd be in favour of this if the opportunity arises. Though have we heard his opinion on AFC, I know we've heard his opinion on K*ttering at NP.Biggles wrote:I'm sorry but i don't agree with approaching Max Griggs as a Hon President, the old Diamonds was his team, the AFC Team will be OUR team, having Max as any sort of official or unofficial title will muddy the waters.

I tend to agree with you.Biggles wrote:I'm sorry but i don't agree with approaching Max Griggs as a Hon President, the old Diamonds was his team, the AFC Team will be OUR team, having Max as any sort of official or unofficial title will muddy the waters.
However I don't think that Max would even consider being an Hon President as he may feel that he has done his bit, and it was ruined, however I'm sure that he will be quietly pleased that we have started AFC 8-)
