Today, I spoke with a legend !!

The Lord himself no less (no, not that one Red Dragon, although I'm sure you're in regular contact on our behalf ;) ) ..................Duane Darby.
Duane is truly devastated to hear what has happened to us and is keen to see AFC R&D succeed, I can't post some of his comments as this is a family board ;) , but seriously, the guy is behind all that is being done with AFC and is keen to come to a game soon.
Sadly he won't be able to make the event on Sunday due to other commitments and he was genuinely disappointed about that, but we'll definately see him at Raunds soon - he also said he'd spread the word amongst the ex-Diamonds players he's in touch with to see if they can help as well.
Just thought I'd name drop a bit ;), but seriously, it was great to hear from him and especially to hear that he's keen to help with AFC R&D, he remains, a top, top bloke !!

Shame he can't make it on Sunday....he's still Matt's absolute No1 hero, has been since Matt was 6 and I guess he always will be. He always stops to talk to Matt and has never once forgotten his name - the likes of Gerrard, Rooney etc wouldn't even have asked his name in the first place! Like you say, he's a top, top bloke!!

Great stuff, is my all time favourite player.. great to know he's 100% behind AFC R&D... and that he'll mention us to other Ex players
Would be great if we could get a R&D legends game, whether it be at Raunds or somewhere else.

I wouldn't expect anything less form Darbs. I'm not sure any other ex-player ever appreciated the club or shared the passion of the fans in the way the Lord Darby did. He showed pride, commitment and fight like no other, and whilst it could be argued that others were better players, none could match Duane's spirit and effort. A superstar in my eyes and every true R&D fan. The memories of Duane's goals and exploits in the white and yellow will keep a cheer in my heart till the day I die.

By the way, how many t-shirts did you sell in the end, I think it was 22 in the bar before the match?
