I've just emailed everyone who has volunteered to me so far offering help with the ground improvements work we need to do and asked them to come down to the ground on Monday to talk through the work we have to do and agree how we're going to tackle it - so 6.30pm on Monday 28th May is our start !! We're in the process of getting materials etc to do all the painting so can't start that yet, so we'll start by tackling the weeding etc. Time and weather permitting we'll make a start on that on Monday evening.
We do need people to bring along some of their own handtools though, we don't have any and as I'm sure you realise, we don't have the spare cash to invest in this kind of thing. Also, if you can donate paint rollers and brushes (all sizes) whether they're new or old, we'll happily accept them - I'm just planning ahead
It'll all be a bit trial and error to start with, but if we can make a start on Monday and plan/agree who can do what its a start - so if anyone reading this has a couple of hours to spare Monday evening then pop along - if we get 200 people on Monday with a few cordless strimmers the weeding will be done by 7pm ;)
I'm aiming to be at the ground again the following evening at the same time, so if you can't make Monday, come on down Tuesday

Ideally I'd like to get people doing tasks over the coming weeks so the weekend of the 7th/8th July is just a snagging weekend with all the main works done and dusted.
I am away this weekend so you won't be able to contact me and I won't be checking the messageboard, so apologies if you have any queries. If you can't make any of these days don't worry, there will be loads of chances to get involved.

My thanks to those of you who came down to the D&D tonight, I know there wasn't a great deal we could do tonight, but at least you all now have an idea of what the task ahead is.
I'll be at the ground from 6.30pm again tomorrow evening for those that couldn't make it tonight.
Thanks to Ash's magic weed killing machine, all areas of the ground that needed it have have now been weed killered, that has saved us hours of back breaking work. Thanks to Duncan for gutting what will be Dale's Bar. Our "sparky" even managed to do a few repairs and get the emergency lights on the main stand running tonight, as well as survey what works are needed to link up the portakabins to the mains, thanks David !

Tonight was a little step, but one in the right direction - so thanks everyone !!
I'll post up on here and email all those who have volunteered once the paint arrives, and fingers crossed that won't be long, then we can get moving with some of the much needed painting.

.managed to get my lad ,jake, down tonight

we levelled up the porta cabin/club shop in readyness for its new doors, then got on the roof check for a leak, sealed up a few places that looked suspect, but will have to wait untill it rains again to check:lol: (not).refitted a window in dales bar, took a few signs off the exterior of the cabin and trimmed up the edge of a path and john plus another chap (sorry dont know his/your name) have started to paint the club house 8-) 8-)
GREAT PROGRESS BEING MADE IN JUST A COUPLE OF NIGHTS
SMALL ACORNS AND ALL THAT

I was just going to say the same - we found a bit of paint in the corner of the portakabin so Robin and Jon made a start and I joined them afterwards - between the 3 of us we almost painted the one side with the white emulsion, if we'd had any ladders I reckon we'd have got all the white on that side done tonight - only possible thanks to the rollers and brushes donated by TofD
Once we get more kit we'll put out a call for a real painting session - we'll crack that exterior painting in no time I reckon with a few people (especially if they have ladders !!!).
Yout right about Ash - fantastic effort to clear all of that side, he'll be back in a fortnight to redo it and the weed spraying. With your efforts on the portakabins (I have emailed you btw) we're making progress

The longest journey starts with the first step eh? ;)
