I hate to criticise, especially when people are doing something voluntarily, but Radio Diamonds commentary is truly shocking. Is there not anyone out there who would help to commentate to mix it up a bit?

I can't get it work so I can't agree or disagree but why is it shocking, I'm sure they're doing their best, you're not paying for it and they're giving you updates of the match (ok sometimes not entirely accurate ;) ), which is obviously rare at this sort of level, so what's the problem?

I agree I shouldn't be critical. Just at times you get pointless conversation as opposed to commentary. Why give out the postal address of the Dog and Duck... I don't think many people will be writing in! Also the general knowledge of the players and league in general is pretty poor.

I actually would be willing to pay for such a service if it was better.

I agree though I should not moan and I will now shut up.

I see what you're saying, a bit of research on the players of the opposition/league would certainly be good of any commentary team, but having said that information can be very hard to come by at this level, I mean a quick look at Bugbrooke's site demonstrates this, the table has all the teams having played one game, and to make things worse, its not even this season's table! There's bit of history and info here and there on their site but other than that nothing, the only way they'd be able to find out about opposition players would be by word of mouth or by Bugbrooke's current programme, which I imagine they don't have access to!

And with the pointless conversation, I wouldn't say that's uncommon, even the top tv commentators come up with some rubbish sometimes

Alan Green springs to mind, he is full of pointless drivel.

I am listening to it for the first time and they are keeping me entertained, Bollocks I thought we scored then.

The second half has been more descriptive, regardless it's good entertainment.

My brother is at the game and just texted me that we were 1-1 20 seconds before the radio commentary. How???

Maybe a delay over the internet. Same for TV, if you were at a match you'd probably see a team score 15-20 seconds before it happens on tv

That's sort of correct. For the main TV channels it's only a fraction of a second delay for digital encoding (a bit longer for HD as ITV found out to their cost in the World Cup). It's longer for SkyGo (and Setanta TV was notorious for a longer delay).

For online radio it depends on the upload speed, server speed and a few other factors, and it will buffer if there are any internet delays, so it's often a minute or two behind.

feel a bit disappointed with this tbh, we have asked for volunteers to come and have a go at radio diamonds and one person came forward, it was his first time last night and he thoroughly enjoyed it and is happy to do some more, by all accounts he came across really well
Getting Radio Diamonds up and running has been a bit of an uphill task, and we are now at 4 co commentators and with Bruce away over the next few weeks we need as much help as you all can offer.

Please don't let comments like this put you off we are trying to run a volunteer fan based service not attempting to compete with 5 live.
