With Hopey celebrating his 140th Birthday last week, sorry, 40th, is he the oldest player to feature in a R&D team ? Or are there any other players who have played at the age of 40 or above for the 1st team ?

Brian Talbot played in a Hillier Senior Cup match for the old club, I'm sure Noddy or Formic will tell you how old he was, but definitely over 40! ;)

I'm fairly sure that Stuart Naylor was the oldest ever player to play in a 'proper' game, at the age of 39 IIRC.

The County Cup competition seems to have been an excuse to allow some of the coaching staff to get their boots on. Elder statesmen were:
Brian Talbot 44 – 120days
Lance Key 42 – 134days
Steve Spooner 40 – 75days

Paul Bastock, Barry Hunter and Stuart Naylor all featured in League games at the age of 37.
