From his twitter
Roll on a week today for my opp then I can start training and playing for @AFCRD again #hatebeinginjured
Good news, could have him and Alfie back up front again soon then hopefully, would be harsh on Newman and Morgan of course but imo they're not quite as good as Deven and Alfie.

If they're playing well and scoring it's gunna be hard to drop them. Newman has scored in the last 5 games in a row and Morgan was Oct player of the month!

Indeed, they've proved themselves to be both more than ready replacements, so it will be a difficult decision for Starms, though regardless of what anyone's done I would personally like to see Alfie straight back into the team when he's ready as he is a class above the rest.

In November, Ben scored 5 goals in 4 games and Jake scored 4 goals in 4 games... says it all doesn't it?

We're blessed with several great strikers who, on their day, are better than anyone else in our league and probably most in the league above. Alfie is quality, no doubt about it, but on the evidence of the Basford game alone so are Ben and Jake and additionally so is Dev... and we've not even seen Lance properly yet. All of them are different kinds of players which is why the squad works so well together. Depending on the opposition, any combination could be the 'best' partnership or starting pair for a given game.

So in summary, what you said is very subjective and I don't agree that any injured player should ever come "straight back in" to any team which is performing well, as what kind of message does that send to the players who have been working hard for the club and winning games?

What a lovely dilemma to have, I can hear Starms asking himself.. which pair from my 4 top performing strikers shall I start with today? Good news that Alfie will be back soon, and I may have read it wrong, but I think Elliot Dent has made a similar statement on his Twitter account. At this rate, we'll have a full squad in the New Year.

Only one No1.

I'm with you there AK. Jake and Ben have been superb lately and don't deserve to be dropped. However, Alfie is too good to leave out IMO. Perhaps there's a way they can all play? ;)

Great news that Dent is back. I'd love to see him start but I suspect his match fitness might not be quite there.

We're well blessed with strikers now with the four mentioned plus Lance. Don't overlook the fact that Jake 'Mr. Utility' Gillingwater could also be very very useful if the situation demanded that we needed his services up front. ;)

You are spot on with the comment about Jake Gillingwater. What depth we have to our striking options. Heard that the front 2 for Ashington are quick and they tend to launch it from the back for them to chase and leave the opposing defence static.. But they have not met Quincy. one on one, only one winner.
