One of those "I was there" days...

Hopefully in a few years when we've reclaimed something resembling our rightful position in the non-league ladder, i'll look back on today and say "I was there."

Firstly, the players deserve a huge amount of credit. Given what i'd read on the internet about the standard of that league I went up there with no expectations whatsoever, but they performed incredibly well. I'd say we were on top in the first half and even when we went down to ten men we still created chances. So many players really excelled and they should all be proud of themselves tonight despite the result.

The fans were equally as good. To take 150 or so to the other end of the country is amazing and the atmosphere in the away section was awesome, particularly when Jake scored and ran over to us. A special mention to Everyweeker who left Devon at 2am this morning (I text into TalkSport this morning telling them about it and they read it out on air!) The Ashington fans more than contributed to the atmosphere and it was good to have some vocal (and humerous) opposition supporters for a change.

We've had some great games in the Vase this year. We were brilliant against Fakenham, Ben Morgan's winner at Yaxley was one of my favourite moments of the season so far, and of course Gilly's goal against Basford. Can't wait for next year's competition!

A very proud fan tonight.

Ahh FFS I'm so gutted! I did feel proud when we all stayed and applauded the players off the pitch though. Hopefully that kind of away support can continue when we go further afield next season, it was very reminiscent of Oxford (including the heartbreak).

It was a great day (and night) one of the best away trips I've ever been on, and I feel really proud of the players and supporters 8-)

Sadly the result was a travesty and with a competent referee, we would have won the game :o

Still, onwards and upwards, we are learning as a club, and that was one more valuable lesson.

I must add, that I was impressed with the set up at Ashingtpn, and for me would be the sort of ground we could asptre to have for ourselves. They were very hospitable, and also incomprehensible at times
