I've just seen an advert on ESPN for their coverage of this weekend's Dundee derby game - stating it's Britain's closest footballing derby with the grounds only 130 yards apart. Perhaps they can be invited to the Dog & Duck on Saturday .....

Guessing groundshares don't count then?

Nottingham Forest and Notts County are separated by the River Trent over which Brian Clough used to regularly walk

Last I checked they weren't in Britain. ;)
I'm up in Scotland this weekend and looked at taking in the Dundee game, but it's quite a hike from Hamilton where i'll be based. Opted for Motherwell V Hibs and Albion V East Fife instead - although the latter might turn into Hamilton V Partick depending on weather.

I think you would be hard pressed to find two football grounds closer together in the world. The main entrance to each ground gives a clue just how close they are.

Wont be as big as Wellingborough v Diamonds next year, if we stay up and you get promoted.

There's a mention on the Guardian website here in the Symmetrical Grounds (3) section from earlier this year

I noticed another one the other day whilst driving down the A421:
Bedford Town and Bedford FC are literally adjacent to each other.
