Although we've mentioned it before, its worth highlighting the inadequacy of the fixture arrangements. After such aggressive fixture rescheduling all season (remember the Chenecks reserve game taking priority!) the league seems unable to have sorted things out so that the obvious four main contenders finish on the same date.

To make things look worse, Oadby's last game is against Wootton, and neither team have a midweek fixture this week (in fact its the only game Wootton have left).

Sileby's last game is against Whitworths - and that game could have been played last Thursday but Whitworths were due to play in the Hinchinbrook cup - only for that game to not take place as Whitworths withdrew from the competition.

The tricky one would have been sorting out Burton Park v Eynesbury, but that game could have been switched with Burton Park v Bugbrooke due to be played on Monday.

We don't even have a full set of games next weekend - only seven are being played, which would also have helped any fixture shuffling.

It's a bit shoddy, however in our favour is the fact we aren't reliant on other results. 2 games, 4 points, simple.

I find it rather odd that any team pulls out of a semi-final of a competition, especially if this is the only opportunity the club gets of some silverware. Is there a reason why they withdrew from the competition ?

Whitworths face a pretty horrendous week.

Tuesday away v AFC Rushden
Wednesday away v Bugbrooke
Saturday away v Eynsbury
Tuesday home v Sileby

Hopefully ourselves and Sileby will have wrapped up the top two places by next weekend, but what state would Whitworths be in if the final matches were crucial. Again more ridiculous scheduling.

By the look of that, I thinking we would be asking an awful lot of Whitworths to get anything against Sileby!

Farcial. So Whitworths can be run into the ground against three of the top four sides (helping Sileby the most) but Oadby have to have their poor little legs rested and cannot possibly play before the original end of the season.

The UCL should be ashamed of itself on the fixtures front.

Having said all that, train tickets booked for Tuesday/Wednesday, so come on you Diamonds. Four points to go.

I'm feeling like crap this morning, bloody cold! However it'll take more than this to keep me away, some things are far more important. COYD
