Lucky, very very lucky.
We were pants for the best part. We missed 3 easy chances, 2 of which could have been converted by any competent footballer, and somehow Tamworth escaped.
Second half Tamworth were in the game much more and had some decent opportunities, whereas we faded.
Porters goal was a strange one. Hit it miles out and somehow eluded the goalkeeper.
Make no mistake, the win is vital, but we need to play much much better than that. Complete change is needed up top as i don't think Jefferson Louis did anything right all game.
3rd place! ;)

But how many times have teams been to our place in the past and come away with 3 points and haven't really deserved it? Now it's our turn to scrap out the victory's!

So we have won another by playing
ugly All I can say is that 12 months ago the team would have settled for a draw or even a loss in that type of game.
It shows how far they have come and that is down to the management team
WELL DONE JEMS!!!

So we've not been at our best, I'd still rather win than lose ;) . On Wednesday we had to battle with 10 men for 50 minutes so I have no doubt we weren't quite as sharp as we can be. We now have a week to recover and must thank our lucky stars for the good fortune (and hard working team) we're getting for once.

I agree it was a poor performance by our standards, just like Tuesday we created very little apart from a few good chances in the first half and I thought it was going to end 0-0 but that's what proper playoff contenders do, play badly but win and snatch a late winner and it was a good finish from Max. It is a little bit worrying that we're scoring so few at the moment but it's the points that matter, we're now in a super position in the table and I've seen 2 away wins in 4 days

(Had only seen 1 in 5 years before Histon)

Was it Louis who managed to miss from about 3 yards out in the first half? I just don't know how he missed it! I'm glad that didn't come back to bite us, great save from Dale in the second half and an equally good sliding tackle by Robinson to clear it on the rebound. 3 consecutive clean sheets now, anyone know how far Dale is to his target of 20 for the season?
Oh and did anyone know that our fans have a serious reputation for pitch invasions? There were about 20 stewards in our end before the final whistle!
Oh and 3rd!!

I honestly don't give a toss if we were totally rubbish, playing crap and winning is the stuff of Champions. We'll come out of this patch of poor play (not form as we're doing well) and hit top performance levels just at the right time - for the play-offs.
I will now be officially gutted if we don't make the play-offs, in the position we're in now it'd be like grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory.
Then its up to 270 minutes of football and that is a complete lottery. I honestly have this feeling that IF we make the play-offs, we'll win them !!! This coming on the back of what I hear was a poor performance, but that makes me feel all the more confident in a weird kind of way.
Today was a massive result confident wise and to go 3rd in the table is a fantastic bonus.
I'm one happy little piggy at the moment and hearing it confirmed that the scum can't compete in the play-offs IF they end up there makes it all the sweeter

The thing is earlier in the season, we weren't getting what we deserved. York away, Stevenage away, Brighton,.. so now we're getting the bit of the rub when it really matters.

I dont care how we played...
At the pub, I was sitting there feeling quite depressed. A fair few other games going against us. I was pretty unresponsive in conversations. Then I finally got into a conversation with someone...and looked up, and saw we'd scored. I knocked the remainder of my Strongbow on the floor and ran around the pub like a mad mad, ran behind the bar and pissed the barmen off a treat.
What a moment. I can't ever remember being so happy.
