Has he signed on for next season yet and can the powers that be offer him a contract?

Even if a contract was in the offering, and like Trek said there are those within the Club either appointed or elected to make those decisions on our behalf, they would not be able to do anything by the start of the season as  Oh yes said player not around as on holiday  A contract is if nothing else a sign of commitment :!: from both parties.RiK2006 wrote:Has he signed on for next season yet and can the powers that be offer him a contract?

Absolutely agree Brownie. Having a lot of contracted players at this level is a considerable financial risk, I think the club have got it dead right so far. If a player wants to walk away for an extra fiver, or because they're not first choice every week, or they think we train too much, then fair enough, there are plenty around who will buy into what we are trying to achieve.Brownie wrote:Even if a contract was in the offering, and like Trek said there are those within the Club either appointed or elected to make those decisions on our behalf, they would not be able to do anything by the start of the season as  Oh yes said player not around as on holiday  A contract is if nothing else a sign of commitment :!: from both parties.RiK2006 wrote:Has he signed on for next season yet and can the powers that be offer him a contract?

Not sure why other than our fan base is historically used to a professional club with full time players we are getting hung up on contracted players. I would think the complete UCL only has about a dozen players under contract, and even the likes of Bedford Town at level 3 would only have season long arrangements.
I am much happier having non contracted players who are happy to drop 1/2 levels because they can see something good going on and want to be part of it for less money than they may have been getting, than lots of highly paid contracted players who are, with the odd exception (Lewis Hilliard) about as loyal as a hungry pet Crocodile.
