Extra Time and no Penalties

It does seem rather strange that the Vase allows for extra time but not penalties. What is the thinking behind having extra time anyway? It goes against all conventional football precedents.
This ruling penalises the away team. Of the games that went to ET 15 were won by the home side and 8 the away team.

Yesterday 27 matches ended all square after 90 mins, only 4 were not decided in the extra time.

THEN LINGFIELD BEAT KENT FOOTBALL UNION 5-4 ON PENALTIES!!!!

If it goes to Extra time and is still level the game should be decided on penalties. If not it should end on 90 and go to a replay

It certainly is a strange ruling.

Anyone else spot Faz, clearly unaware that would be extra time, shake hands with and thank the ref at the end of 90 minutes? I do hope we've got it on camera - his face when he was told there'd be extra time was a picture

One of the Dunstable officials did the same thing.

Some years ago when R & D played away to Cogenhoe in a Hillier/ Northants Sen Cup tie the scores were level after 85 mins.

Brian Talbot was standing just in front of me giving instructions to play out time. I mentioned to him that we would be playing extra time if still a draw after 90 mins. He was shocked and was clearly not aware of the rule in place for that game.
