Not quite the same but once I was watching my team in a Sunday league match about a yard from the goalpost. When a forwards shot went wide, I just kicked it back onto the pitch and he half heartedly put it into the net.....and the ref gave a goal!!

The opposition were not sure what had happened. had it hit the post and rebounded?
After few moments confusion/anger myself and the forward convinced the ref it was not a goal and normal service was resumed.
