It was 20 years since my Dad died in October. After all these years it would genuinely have slipped my memory if it wasn't the day before my Birthday. Never had the chance to know him but I imagine losing your Dad must be hard if he's been there all your life. Can't imagine what I'd do if my Mum went.

My dad died aged 70 in 1999 after a short illness
For a long time afterwards I caught myself wondering what my dad would have thought of this or that. If I was wandering around a forest, or looking over a bridge, I'd find myself thinking, dad would have liked this.
I moved to France in April 2004, and I often find myself thinking how much he would have loved visiting here and exploring the beautiful countryside.
The really strange thing is, I always think of him as the age he was when he died. It only occured to me when reading Pigmans thread, that dad would be 81 now if he was still alive. That really does bring it home to me how much time has passed.
Thankfully my mum is still alive, and enjoys visiting me here in France. Last year she visited me for Christmas, that's the first time I've spent christmas out of Blighty.
Yes, time certainly does fly. I've moved house 3 times since my dad died

My stepdad died in 1989. I still miss him every day.

My dad was a lovely man and there isn't a day I don't miss him, or think about him. My mum is lost without him, they were together for 67 years (they met when they were 14 years old) and missed out on their 60th wedding anniversary by just 30 days.
Anyway, onwards and upwards eh? I was lucky to have a great dad who I love and respected !!
