A friend of mine just told me that this player has signed for us.

He is a central defender, played at Cogenhoe.

We've registered him so it seems your friend was right!

Now confirmed. Another experienced player that's been there and knows what it takes to win titles.

Squad is looking quite big now, how will Peaksy keep all happy? Squad rotation?

I'd imagine most new signings, as well as those who've stayed on from last season, have been asking themselves the same thing, or even raising it with Peaksy directly. I assume they've all been given assurances that with a large squad the club's aim is to strongly challenge for all competitions, so with the amount of cup games on the horizon (and more league games than last season) there'll be plenty of first-team opportunities to go around, especially this side of Christmas.

I know quite a few people look at the UCL or the Hillier cup as a "mickey mouse" competition or one that gets in the way, but i'd like us to win something like a cup this season. I know the aim is promotion and that would mean winning the title but it wold be nice to bring in some silverware. Having a big squad could mean using some of the fringe players that would be more than capable of first team action.

I'd rather we concentrated on the Vase, than the Hillier Cup. The league title would be enough silverware for me. Let's be honest, if we win the UCL/Hillier Cup in 2015 will anyone actually remember it in two seasons' time? The Vase has prestige because it's a national competition that ends at Wembley, the league because it's a test over a season. But those two cups aren't taken seriously for a good reason IMO.

it may be a UCL/County requirement but they do offer fringe players and youth team game time and as such should be taken seriously. We have more than 20 first team squad players and in all honesty 3/4 will not get a game in the regular UCL games.
The under 21 league will only give 16 games, so the over age players must get as much time in the "mickey mouse" competitions as possible, and will give valuable time to the likes of Liam Bond, Noah Bryant and Jake Reynolds..et al

We have more than enough players of all ages on our books to justify having ago at all competitions, after all we could go out of the FA Cup a lot earlier than last year and we don't start the Vase until December.
