Due to stop our way at midnight, so hopefully the gale will keep blowing during the night to help dry the surface a bit. If it stays like this it may well take a stud in the bar and a welly on the pitch.

I'm not convinced the midfield is right yet. I want to see Gearing back in the side who, for me, puts in a far higher average level of performance than ELJ. I'm also a little concerned by our lack of pace in the central areas, from the defence onward - Oadby showed us that running centre mids can run the show with the right support.

Agrree with all of the above. Gearing MUST start for me. Offers much more attacking threat than ELJ, not only with his delivery, but his ability to cut in and shoot, often testing the keeper.
As for the back 2 it has to be Ashton alongside Dolman for me and Sam Brown on the left. With Dolman and Parky we look vulnerable against any team with a bit of pace up front. Luckily for us both Oadby and Sileby's stikers were pretty useless at converting the chance they had. Team's like Holbeach, Huntingdon and Deeping etc will soon find us out if we keep playing Parky alongside Dolman. Dare I say they could potentially smash in 3 or 4 in against us.
Having said that with Yaxley sitting in 2nd, with a few defensive adjustments I don't think we have any team to fear in this league. Yaxley were very average however they did shut out the game well, something perhaps we could learn from.
As for Desborough, they will be very much in the same mold as Harborough and Boston Town, hard working and all huff and puff. If we play as well as we know we can, there should be no problem in beating Desborough and collecting another 3 points.

And keep Michael Byrne quiet! He's the only one that has been scoring for them and the two goals he scored against us, after we took an early lead, in March still haunt me.

Yes Byrne is one of the best finishers in the UCL, with his head as well as on the deck, as he proved at the D&D that night. If we work hard to stop the supply (which we did well in the 2-0 win at their place last season) we should get the points. It's crucial we start making a few statements to Holbeach ahead of our massive clash with them on October 25th

Nail on head and all that, MB can and will score goals and they will try and hit him early, both goals last season at The D&D were long balls from very deep. Busy night for the wide men, tracking back and helping cut out that supply line, night off for those who can`t/won`t do that job. And the 2 central defenders avoiding what happened last season with MB making runs and nipping in front of them. That is possibly him at his most dangerous as standard balls into the box you would hope to be able to deal with, after all he ain`t no towering giant is he.

Sat in the car with the rain hammering down I thought this could be in doubt, fingers crossed the forecast is right - says rain will stop in Wellingborough about 2am then dry all day tomorrow - should see it dry out nicely I'd have thought !! Hope so, we could do with getting our games in hand played !!

Well I can get to a game (at last!) so no doubt the rain will call the game off!!!
Hoping the weather will be a bit more positive tomorrow, and it dries the pitch out.
