Will we become FC United in the future?
Heard it mentioned a few times that they are a club for us to model ourselves on....
When Humans are involved it is almost inevitable that things head this way...
You think we will be any different?

Northwich vics likely to enter administration in the coming days I hear. Trying to set up a 200 club were they all donate £5 a week to cover the players wages

Looks like the Club is being handed over to it's supporters judging by this Statement issued yesterday on Vic's OWS:-diamondsteve wrote:Northwich vics likely to enter administration in the coming days I hear. Trying to set up a 200 club were they all donate £5 a week to cover the players wages

How ironic that the breakaway Vics club, 1874 Northwich, was only set up in 2013 because they didn't like the way Jim Rushe was running NVFC. It does pose the question have the Vic's ST the necessary funds to clear debts and any outstanding payments?
Touching on the original poster's question could any ST get a bank overdraft without collateral? They are only tenants at Witton Albion after all. I believe that was the stumbling block that RDST encountered back in late 2006 when they were facing possible administration, despite owning Nene Park, causing RDFC to be passed over to Keith Cousins.
Re: Will we become FC United in the future?
That's certainly an interesting parallel, but it provokes thought about the generous parachute payment the Griggs Group made to the Trust, along with a debt-free handover.
I'm so glad AFC R&D doesn't have any kind of owner / benefactor involved, and its constitution requires the board to keep the members informed / involved before doing anything drastic.

Indeed, Formic. RDST weren't able to keep RDFC debt free despite a £750,000 'dowery' and were only able to run the club for 18 months but I guess the running costs of Nene Park played a significant part in this.
Our club's stated aim for is 'to play at the highest level that is substantiable'. In my opinion having to achieve that with a bank overdraft does not fulfill that criteria.
As for FCUM they have apparently put significant monies into the community side of their club whilst still trying to compete at Step 2 level and fund the continued development of their own new stadium. Perhaps their ambitions exceed their revenue and in this respect I would not consider that their model is something that our club should aspire to.
I have every confidence that our members will continue to be consulted on any future proposals in such matters by our board.

Not wishing to drag up old ground but RDST and one lady in particular 'wasted' the £750k by paying Paul Hart and his hangers on large salaries to try and stay in the Football League when it was obvious that relegation to the conference was the place we needed to be to re-build after the departure of Mr Griggs. I probably need to 'move on'............Trek wrote:Indeed, Formic. Reading some of those articles I feel FCUM are beset by the problems of their own making, but I'm sure they'll come out of it for the better. I've never heard of anyone comparing them to ourselves, they are way bigger and I'm chuffed that we're just doing our own thing in our own way and time. You can't please everyone all of the time and with a club as big as theirs, as you say, it's inevitable that disagreements will arise.Sandy Lane wrote:Heard it mentioned a few times that they are a club for us to model ourselves on....

Back on the Northwich Vics topic, its interesting to read the tweets of one of the 1874Northwich founders on this subject - https://twitter.com/Tony_1874NFC . Perhaps its a good thing we haven't had to make the long trip to face the Vics yet, as there seems a chance they might not finish the season.
This might not be good news for Witton Albion either, as they would lose the rent contribution from the Vics - although they are still in the FA Trophy to get some extra revenue (their game on Tuesday will decide whether our game against them in two weeks will have to be postponed).

Apparently the club has been in offered to the 'fans' by Rushe but in effect it's just two fans under a Supporters Association title. With an average home attendance of 113 (18th best in the NPL 1S) it's difficult to se a positive outcome for the Vic's.

On the FCUM track the big test will be the same as it has always been, paying for a ground and the associated costs that come with it.
FCUM are finding that out now. There's a certain section of the fan base that seems to have a "we don't care what makes us angry as long as we can be angry at something" mentality, that led to a number of the board resigning recently.
