[ History ] The history of Rushden & Diamonds
Re: [ History ] The history of Rushden & Diamonds
It still saddens me to think about what became of the amazing facilities we had, I can't think of any other modern stadium that only had a life span of 15 or so years. I remember the Sunday mornings when I used to walk down to the computer fair that they held there, good times.

loosely related to this, it's 30 years since the creation of the original club this year but we've only really seen social media posts about the 10 years since the senior team at AFC was set up. Just curious as to what the decision behind the lack of inclusion of the previous entity on our socials is about? Don't think I've ever seen any throwback instagram post for example from photos of the club before AFC.

I suspect they may be waiting until the weekend as Monday 22nd will be the 30th Anniversary of the first game for RDFC - https://rdfc1992.com/1992/08/22/rushden ... on-town-2/oliv272 wrote: Wed Aug 17, 2022 3:43 pm loosely related to this, it's 30 years since the creation of the original club this year but we've only really seen social media posts about the 10 years since the senior team at AFC was set up. Don't know the details but I suspect they got sold, long before we were back to HR, as lots of clubs were after turnstiles for any grading/promotions.
When we were at the DnD and they started using the turnstiles we had to put in after promotion, they sold their old turnstile mechanisms to a club that were after them (the turnstile block is now used as a storage area for paint etc). Now WTFC just have a basic hut where the "new" turnstiles were, like RHUFC had at Hayden Road when we arrived. RHUFC now have entry via the bar anyway and a table/desk near the door to the ground - no turnstile used.
The changing rooms are still pretty similar, though the refs room in the video got changed back into a corridor when we had to increase changing rooms by a small amount for ground grading. We reinstituted the old players entry door when we did that.
