The similarities to last year are quite amazing. Didn’t start well but had the core of a good team especially at the back and midfield, slow start but didn’t look like being able to win matches if we conceded. Signing of Ravi and Ty changed the whole complexion of the team and season and this is exactly the position we are in now. A signing of 2 players of that calibre added to this team changes everything. Easier said than done but money needs to be spent on this. Not going crazy but we don’t have a choice from where I am watching. Let’s not wait until it’s too late and we are out of the FA Cup which is an absolute must to have a decent run in. I don’t mean first round although that would be amazing, but at least 3Q.

Also I think if we do start to pick up, it'll still be a season of fighting relegation unlike last season pushing for play offs. Im also starting worry that somebody might come in for snedker, to rescue him from this team. I've said it since the start of pre-season, you have to have some experience alongside youngsters, preferably the spine of the team and work around thatdiamondsteve wrote: Sun Aug 21, 2022 10:20 amTHIS . Just to add, that’s not a criticism of Burge as I think he is putting together a really good team, and he knows what he needs. If you think that his plan this year had Jordan Graham as his target man to build around and then just before the start he goes to K*ttering. Thrown his plan right out the window. He would be great in that number 9 role for us right now.

Couldn't agree more with you SD. The board have always been more interested in the U21's which to be honest has produced maybe one player in Corden over several years and drained academy resources in doing so. I thought that by playing the new U23 squad in men's football was a good idea until I realised they were only playing park football at Step 7.sussexdiamond wrote: Sun Aug 21, 2022 8:18 am If Burgess half time talks are as bland as his interviews its no wonder we have lost the second half for past three games. He needs to get himself and the team fired up. If we needed a back up keeper yesterday why was it not Watson. Was it considered more important for him to play for the under 23's. I am wary of the way the U23 game has been promoted as a great win, for goodness sake it's Step 7 that's even lower than when we started 10 years ago.. Is it part of a plan to undermine Burgess and replace him?
What we could have done was use one of the UCL Step 5 clubs as a feeder team. Just look at what Cogenhoe and Bugbrooke are trying to do. Both clubs are using youth in the right way with nearly all their players under the age of 21. And oh yes most of them are former R&D Academy players who didn't want to play for the U23's at such a low level. i'm sure if asked, Cogenhoe's Scott Carlin would be more than happy to liaise with our club with his young squad having the benefit of playing just 2 steps below Diamonds.
As for the first team manager, he definitely retains my full support. I only look at a league table properly once 10 games have been completed and will do so again when that has happened. Yes we need a striker but they don't grow on trees and don't come cheap. But it must be Burge's number one priority and he'll know that! As to the players, we are lucky to have Step 2 level players in Sneds and Casey while I like the look of Evan but not as a CD. He is a wonderful passer of the ball and I just wonder if his correct position might be more of a holding midfielder.
Interestingly, our next 4 league games are against teams just above us in the table and so definitely winnable. Lets see how we get on in these games and where that leaves us points wise.

To be honest using a substitute goalkeeper is rare and if Watson played for the u23's at least he's spent 90 minutes getting some game time and improving rather than sitting on the bench. (if it was any other position on the pitch I would agree and say that while we are low on numbers we need everyone on the bench)sussexdiamond wrote: Sun Aug 21, 2022 8:18 am If we needed a back up keeper yesterday why was it not Watson. I don't get it, why would there be a plan to replace Burgess when we only gave him a one year contract in July?sussexdiamond wrote: Sun Aug 21, 2022 8:18 am I am wary of the way the U23 game has been promoted as a great win, for goodness sake it's Step 7 that's even lower than when we started 10 years ago.. It worries me that confidence or trust in the board seems to have rapidly fallen so far that someone as level headed as you is suggesting that.
I hope the feel good factor at the club comes back soon as after all the work that has gone into building our community club it would be horrible if more fans actually genuinely believed there could be a plan to undermine our own manager.
- Play it out from the back.
- 1 up front.
- Man gets one good result via a new manager bounce and thinks he's Pep Guardiola.

I think Burge to hone up on his media skills,he is a bit dour rather than just disappointed at the result,if he is the same it the dressing room it doesn't instill confidence in the players that maybe they can turn a game around, confidence has to come from the top.I agree with most of the comments that we need a strong, experienced number 9,a Tom Lorraine perhaps, or a younger equivalent.

You started the thread called "support our manager and team"- then you go an post something like this! Irony is something truly lost on some people!smoky wrote: Mon Aug 22, 2022 7:53 am I think Burge to hone up on his media skills,he is a bit dour rather than just disappointed at the result,if he is the same it the dressing room it doesn't instill confidence in the players that maybe they can turn a game around, confidence has to come from the top.I agree with most of the comments that we need a strong, experienced number 9,a Tom Lorraine perhaps, or a younger equivalent.

Most of you called for Peaksy to go every time two games were lost. Give it three more games and it will be Maxwell out
