Re: [ Sat 17th Dec ] v Basford Utd, KO 3pm SLPDC HOME
From the SSML today
Due to the current very cold weather conditions and the immediate outlook which promises more of the same, the SSML has agreed that the home club can postpone the match if they decide there is no reasonable prospect of the ground being fit for play Saturday 17th December.
There is therefore not a requirement to ask the match referee or another referee to carry out a ground inspection.
Clearly, circumstances for clubs playing at home on an artificial surface will be different.
Clubs who decide that there is no reasonable prospect of play on Saturday can postpone the match today

Yep, virtually no chance of this being on and definitely agree it's a blessing in disguise, plenty of time to pick ourselves up and assuming we have a new manager in place by Christmas, that would make the huge derby game on boxing day the manager's first new game, a great time for the new manager effect to kick in to get us a crucial win.
Optimistic I know, but despite our perilous position, I still think the new manager must come in with a fighting mentality that we're going to give it a real go to try and survive in 2023, I know many have given up already, but it would be like giving up at half time in a match, not over just yet.

If that's from Jon Dunham's retweet that's the Spartan League - that RHUFC play under, not Southern League. That said, I know some national leagues issued pretty much the same option to allow earlier cancellation and not have to have an on the day inspection as is usual procedure, given the continued freeze.diamondsteve wrote: Thu Dec 15, 2022 4:09 pm From the Southern league today

Boston was one of the only grass games on this week at lower levels that I saw and they have the fancy matchsaver rolling covers. Nice but I think over 20K for a pitch last time I checked.
These covers...very nice.

Well if the pitch is anything like the ground outside my front door which a mini digger was trying to penetrate, good luck getting a match going.
After much thumping and earth tremors resembling a minor earthquake breakthrough was achieved eventually, ground worker reckons
the ground is frozen to a depth of at least 6 inches, a good few days needed to thaw that.
