Their new gaffer, is the same gaffer who spent the 2nd half at Coleshill last season, and let’s just say that his time there wasn’t great. I’m definitely not underestimating any team, but I am super confident today thanks to our management and players. I don’t think I’ve gone in to a game genuinely thinking we will win in a very long time. Let’s go Rushden!
I remember the season opener at crawley some years ago, they almost couldn't fulfil the fixture, put a side together on the friday night and we all though not if we win but by how many. We went there and lost 1-0. So you should never write of any opponent, just go out there and try and win the match. I would certainly take a 1-0 win

Great 1-0, sounded like we could've had more. Shame the crowd was a little low, but hopefully it can pick up.

Agree, still the second best crowd in our division.

What’s not to love about today?

We looked strong, physical, combative, players across the park won their battles, strong at the back, everyone did their jobs, we look a cohesive unit that are really well organised, we created chance after chance and took the one that mattered! Could easily have been 3-0 up at half time! Good and impactful substitutions, 3 points in the bag and the food (or should I say Fud) was exceptional.

All in all a good day - a typical August crowd with a lot of people away on holiday, I think we were the second largest attendance in the league today, that will creep up come September I’m sure!

We could have had more goals and that’s the only down side, but our side that started last season would never have held onto a 1-0 lead so convincingly and we’d have lost that game this time last year.

Chances are being created and as the season progresses and sharpness returns we’ll score more!

The new kit looks awesome, I bet Teresa is delighted with those white shorts to wash lol Max Griggs would have loved that - he loved an all white kit ala Real Madrid !!

I’m optimistic tonight that something really good is building, I enjoyed my afternoon and after the week I’ve had it says something that I returned home with a smile on my face!

The trick now is to build on that performance! Long way to go, but the longest journey starts with the first step - ours today was a big one !! Well done guys - on to the next one !!

Missed this one due to holiday, but isn't it great to be so optimistic after 2 dismal seasons?
All credit to the management team, they've got pre-season bang on the money, recruited well and put the same players on the pitch consistently.
The last time i saw a team like this was Graham Westley era, that team would have taken us back to the FL, instead it took Stevenage into the League after KC pulled the plug.
Awesome job by the board too, they've suffered at the sharp end as well.

Good point to make Robin - the current board stepped in at a time of chaos and haven’t had the best of times, they’ve had a hard slog to get us to where we are - they deserve a season of fewer dramas - a chance to enjoy the football a little! Its a thankless job in many ways, as past board members will testify to I’m sure, but we’re lucky to have them - but lose on Tuesday and sod it, it’s “Usher out” lol fickle or what?

First time we've won before even October in 3 years can you believe and to get that first win on the opening day as well is even better, nice that we won't have that hanging over us again this year.

So pleased about today, such a solid all round team performance, the difference between the two teams was huge despite the scoreline, both new teams only recently put together, yet they looked a long way away from a gelled team, whereas we looked like a team that has been playing together for a while, they didn't trouble us in the slightest and of coursexwe could have won by 2 or3. Harriman has clearly done a great job setting this team up, only three games gone, but from what we've seen so far, there is a lot to be optimistic about!

Great to get the 3 points, thoroughly deserved. Lye look a bit like us last year (at the beginning of the season). Some young players and going to struggle to score goals. I actually thought we didn’t play that well yet still won pretty comfortably. That bodes well as I think we have so much more to come. What Harriman is doing reminds me of Peaksy in building a team and adding good additions along the way. I think we have lots to be positive about.
