After Saturday we need a really positive and determined response from the players. Anstey is a really tough test at the best of times, just remember last seasons maulings. Changes need to be made but just who do we have to improve the starting eleven. Certainly Hughes will return and Corden is a must but can we rely on Johnston or Emery to score goals.?

I’d like to see Fraser and Ethan start, Carter Price offers nothing IMO. A change in formation is needed as well , the one we’ve been using is clearly not working, Cairo is having to play out of position to facilitate it, he needs to be played to his strengths.

Corby & Lye a distant memory unfortunately
. Toothless up front. Long balls bypassing midfield. 1 goal in open play from 6 games. Long long season at wrong end of the table again I'm afraid. Question.. if we play pressing wingbacks why don't we have a striker ie Johnston in the box?

Some strange decisions are being made…how Emery is being put on consistently before Johnston I really can’t quite grasp.Ricky330 wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 8:22 pm Question.. if we play pressing wingbacks why don't we have a striker ie Johnston in the box?
I have to put it out there that I’m starting to become quite worried, I won’t go further than that at the moment. The past few games have been worrying, including Bedworth.

I'm inclined to still believe, if anything spent too long just having no hope. The change in formation didn't work today but can't help but feel like if we trained and started it would work better.rickthediamond wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 9:05 pmSome strange decisions are being made…how Emery is being put on consistently before Johnston I really can’t quite grasp.Ricky330 wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 8:22 pm Question.. if we play pressing wingbacks why don't we have a striker ie Johnston in the box?

The ingredients are there, play Cairo on the wing with Adams or Johnston swapping on the other wing/upfront, Tejan as a 6 with Green and Corden in midfield. My main issue is McNeil, has a long throw but seems a liability in defence, was moaning a lot and did not do many if any recovery runs. Play Hughesy at left back as he did under Peaksy and might be onto a winner.
Because who knows better, a manager with football league experience or some random fan?
Good attendance tonight, keep backing the boys and good will come eventually, it's the Diamond way

Sometimes you just have to hold up your hands and say the other team was better. No shame in it, but Anstey were top drawer, they passed and moved with quality at speed and a high tempo and scored some superb goals. If they play that well for most of the season, they'll challenge for the title no problem . We're not going to be playing teams of that quality every game and i thought we did try to compete even when losing heavily.
Get your heads up lads and try to play the same way, we actually did play at a better speed near the end.

I think this is a fair enough point but we must proceed with caution based off the previous 2 seasons. Presuming that we are going to be in the lower half of the table, picking up the odd point against promotion chasing teams at home could be the difference maker. It’s never nice to ship 5 either, although it’s not particularly uncommon in our division.Three of Diamonds wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 9:16 pm Sometimes you just have to hold up your hands and say the other team was better. A truly woeful display, albeit against a very strong visiting side.
Outpaced, outfought all night and just nothing in reply.
Desperately need an injection of something up top .
