Rushden Diamonds F.C. - Anything But a Disgrace!
In response to Downsies excellent rant about Luton, I couldn't help but feel annoyed that Luton are getting more attention than ourselves.
Today was another good performance. In my opinion, we could of easily beaten Luton if we'd really wanted to, starting with our best possible team and not subbing Tomlin and Byrne. I thought our goal was different class, and despite the uneasy start, the defence and Huke especially looked more and more comfortable as the game went on.
I was happy that Jamie and Lee got the awards they deserved - a little bit disappointed there was nothing for Byrne but maybe he will get his time soon with the unquestionable most prestigious award possibly going to him ;)
It wasn't just the performance though that struck me today. It was the way the club as a whole performed. Despite the taunts and idiotics from Luton at the end, we concentrated on what was important - congratulating and supporting the team, and despite the extra crowd in the PDB, it was the most positive I've heard it in ages!
In times gone by, we've managed to play well then when it culminates in a big game with a big home crowd, we freeze and play poorly, the most frustrating cycle - didn't happen today! I can't speak from a new supporters point of view but I found it very entertaining!
It still hasn't sunk in that in 5 days, we will be playing in the Play-Offs! Who'd have thought it 12 months ago? Certainly not me. Everyone on here I'm sure has expressed what a great season this has been, probably my best supporting R&D. I was here in the glory days, but I never got the level of satisfaction I have got now.
So onto Oxford, we will have to go in as underdogs, but we've shown in every game this season we can beat anyone, and the last couple of games have shown we have real strength in depth. I hope we beat this arrogant club with all their moanings cheats (Cunstable and others), but most importantly, sing our hearts out to make Nene Park rocking! Even if the results don't go our way, we need to remember what a great job JEMS have done this year - who knows what will happen next year whether we go up or stay down - I'm certainly looking forward to it!

Completely agreed, loudest we've been in ages, the presence of Luton fans spurred up on it seems. Let's replicate it on Thursday, especially the Dario G - Carnival song which worked really well with the drum and got everyone singing.

R.I.P Dale. We will never forget you.

I was in the DeBanke and was surrounded by the dirty scum support.
