I think you need to read that statement whilst bearing in mind the Chairman's relationship with the Terry family.

for this reason i felt he would stay
kinda knew keith would try and keep him and it was always down to the player himself.
looks like he does have some decency.

thanks for your effots on the pitch paul.

Did a great job for us, but let every down with his antics off the pitch. He's gone now, so all party's can move on

Hopefully this will be the last we hear of the Roberts/Terry issue.

Terry, the player, I'm disappointed to see leaving the club, but Terry, the person.... to say I'm relieved he's gone would be a massive understatement.

Would have been upset to have seen him back next season because at the end of the day what he's done is completely unacceptable and disgraceful and could have been very damaging on team spirit when the new season came along so I'm relieved that he's done the right thing. Now that he's gone, hopefully Dale can put it behind him and stay at the club.

He was pivotal to our success last year. He was the first person we've had in years who instead of playing in midfield, owned the midfield, like Butterworth used to do.

However, saying that, Justin has an excellent record of finding players. It sounds as if Matt Johnson will replace Terry, Power will replace Byrne, and Keenan will replace Wolleaston.

All we need now is a replacement for Pattison, probably Benjamin, one new striker to replace Cliff and J-Lo along with Nabil, and a defender to replace Downer!

In my eyes, the key one will be replacing Downer. You can't develop the relationship Simon and Jamie had and you'll struggle to find players who can do what Downer did last year. He was outstanding, not one player outpaced/outstrengthed him all season. However, with an almost impossible task, Justin is more than capable of carrying it out,

I'm starting to get excited for the new season. It's like a month till our first game :) :) :)

Well that ends that. Terry, the player I will miss. At the end of it all, probably the best possible outcome for all parties concerned.

Yes, this looks like a very carefully worded and mutually agreed statement.

I wonder if Terry was allowed to write his own leaving statement, a la Graham Westley? ;)
