Wasn't directly involved, and not sure on the CAMRA side of things, but will ask. The event was advertised quite widely in ET, and some of the other local papers, as well as a few Radio Stations, and I think through some of the Beer communities as well. It certainly wasn't just put on the Website for the R&DFC fans, as we know both this and the main site are a fairly small community of fans.Trek wrote:How well was the Festival promoted in the wider non-footballing community? Did the Club enlist the local Northampton branch of CAMRA to promote or was it a case that the powers that be decided that it was simply enough to list on the Official web-site?Dazzler wrote: ....... a disappointing turnout.
I know, from experience, that a well advertised beer festival is generally a success.
Perhaps this aspect ought to be looked at more closely if the Club decide to promote another one in the future.

Re: Beer Festival
OK thanks for that. There was no mention in the last edition of the Northampton's CAMRA magazine 'Over the Barrell' that I saw and to ensure that advertising reaches it's desired target i.e. real ale drinkers then it's important that flyers etc. are issued at other beer festivals such as the Northampton Delapre Festival and Welland Valley Festival for example.Dazzler wrote:

I know flyers were made, but not sure where they went out to.Trek wrote: OK thanks for that. Re: Beer Festival
That's the key, I'm afraid, and to charge an admission fee for a selection of only 20-25 beers is a bad move.Dazzler wrote: I know flyers were made, but not sure where they went out to.
I also get the impression that it was decided to promote the Festival only a short time ago and although I didn't buy a programme for the Oxford play-off fixture cannot recall it being advertised on the scoreboard that evening.
This is an example of a well run festival, organised by the local community, which is always a sell-out on the Saturday evening where they charge an admission fee.

The other thing that they do well at that event is to get firms/individuals to sponsor a barrel of beer. ;)

ok - will pass on. Certainly there were a number of sponsored ales in the Programme.Trek wrote:That's the key, I'm afraid, and to charge an admission fee for a selection of only 20-25 beers is a bad move.Dazzler wrote: I know flyers were made, but not sure where they went out to.

Re: Beer Festival
it was a praiseworthy effort to raise awareness of the Diamonds facilities. Plenty of tasty beers and ciders on offer and interesting music. The electric problems obviously didn't make things any easier but well done to the staff for coping well under pressure.

Re: Beer Festival
I went to the Brigstock beer festival last year, and will go again this year. It's certainly very well run. I know people come from all over the county to attend, infact i know one lad from Liverpool who comes down especially.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....
