Re: Sam Smith
So is Sam happy at the club these days?
People were making noises last season that he wished he wasn't here and it had been a mistake to sign a 3 year contract...

Re: Sam Smith
I thought Sam Smith looked like he'd been hitting the gym a lot over the summer at Brackley. Looked big and strong and showed some nice touches. Definitely think his time is here - even if I'm proved wrong, he's still a super sub to have.
Re: Sam Smith
He's got to make himself the starter. He has to earn his place. He was unlucky last season with injuries, and you could see it on his face how much it meant to him to get a goal at Mansfield last season. Now is his time to make himself present in the team. No loan signings pushing him back. I think, and hope he can do it. I hope it's finally his season, like Tomlin finally got his breakthrough season last year (arguably starting when Edinburgh took over).
He has a lot of attributes, he has good height, decent strength when he knows how to use it, a good touch and is surprisingly fast. If he can use them all effectively he could easily become one hell of a player.

I don't think he was given the same chance last year as he was the year before.. His performances always seemed limited to 10 minute spells at the end of games instead of the last half hour which he usually got.Trek wrote:He was but he was pants when he played last season. :evil:DiamondsFan wrote:... he's still a super sub to have.
When he got to start, I do admit he looked very unfit but he didn't really get enough hours on the pitch last season.

That is, I'm afraid, the draw back in not having a reserve team and those not in the regular starting eleven always seem to struggle with a lack of match fitness. Unfortunately, with Sam last season he never warranted a starting place in front of the other strikers. Even big Cliff in the second half of the season hardly had a kick.DiamondsFan wrote: When he got to start, I do admit he looked very unfit but he didn't really get enough hours on the pitch last season.

Unfortunately for Sam, you can't argue with that though, our attack scored more goals than we could really have imagined, all without him.DiamondsFan wrote:I don't think he was given the same chance last year as he was the year before..
