Help needed from techie types

Post by Three of Diamonds »

Old fart here, just got my first ever bluetooth phone. How do I download stuff onto and from my phone to the PC please? No instructions and fed up with messing about. I connected the USB cable and it seems to have connected to the PC cos it found and installed the hardware thing, but how do I actually move stuff from one to t'other??

Any help mucho grateful.

Got nowt to do with the bluetooth if you're using the cable.

You should see an icon for it in My Computer if you're on a PC and on the Finder if you're on a Mac. Open it and you should be able to drag and drop into whatever file you want to use.

If it's music you want to put on, then there should be a specific software to use for whichever phone it is.

For example Nokia have PC suite.

What make of phone?

If Nokia it a piece of piss.

I couldn't live without Nokia Suite does everything from

BACKUP A PHONE --- Synchronise --- Connect to Internet

Contacts --- Mail --- Calendar

File Manager --- Store Images --- Transfer Videos

Install Applications -- MUSIC --- UPDATE Phone Firmware

Download Maps --- OVI

It's the Orange Amsterdam (Alcatel - OT880)

Update;- can't find a bluetooth icon on the computer so I assume it's not there. I tried to follow the instructions to a bluetooth device from the search bar in the control panel, but it wasn't there either. I guess I need some kind of download or a dongle?

A lot of laptops have bluetooth built in, but with a Desktop PC you'll probably need a Bluetooth dongle as you guessed to make a wireless connection. But you may still need some software from Alcatel anyway to allow you to manage the phone.

Dongle: Like this kind of thing.
