Well, (and it takes a lot for me to say this) I think I've finally been priced out of coming to Nene Park on a regular basis and if I'm saying this, then god help the club thats all I can say.

I don't blame the club, a price increase this year was always on the cards, but I'd expected £1 across the board. I'm not a Trust member and don't like being forced into being one, so I'm facing a £3 increase per game - that's not gunna happen I'm afraid !!! I'll be picking and choosing my games this season. I'm sure I'll be slagged off by some for saying this and told I'm not a real fan, but there ya go, after 16 years of following the club through thick and thin, I won't be a regular at NP in the future, its a shame, but can't be helped.

I've just looked in on Bedford Blues Rugby Club website, £12 per match if purchased in advance, I can cycle to the ground (no driving) and have a few beers (I can't at NP as I'm nearly always driving)............that's where I'll be heading I reckon !

After seeing K*ttering's prices I think we basically machine gunned our foot rather than just shooting it once. Now I'm no financial analyst person ( ;) ) but would it have been too optimistic to assume that if we'd kept the prices at a £1 increase at £14 across the board then we would've seen an increase in attendance? We've just come off our best season in 7 years and it remains to be seen how K*ttering will do. If they'd got off to a bad start I'd wager that many of the floating support that's around Northants would've come to us and maybe bridged that gap to 2,000. Now they'll just stay at home altogether, even if we're around the top of the league at the end of August I doubt we'd get anywhere near 2,000. :(

I'm absolutely gutted that you feel that way Pigman, as you're one of the few posters on here who I always agree with.

I can understand the effect it will have on floating fans, as they will not have RDST memberships. However for the hardcore support it shouldn't make a difference, really. A once-off payment to the Trust and the problem is gone. Once every other Saturday you'll pay £1 more than last season, a price increase you said you would have expected.

I know that being 'forced' into buying a Trust membership isn't exactly a nice situation to be in, but it's not too big a price (financially or otherwise) to pay for the well-being of our club. KE isn't doing this through greed, RDFC have been forced into this position and I'm sure that they hate it as much as we do - and reading posts like this, from people like you, must be absolutely gutting. :(

Now I'm really disturbed by this Directive. I really don't understand the Conference board, I really don't.

But Pigman has already admitted that for personal reasons he wouldn't have many many of the fixtures in the first couple of months. I fail to see what else the Club could have done. They had already committed themselves to the price of season tickets in April and anyone who brought one then would have been royally p****d off if the prices of seats was reduced inline with standing to £14 this season as suggested by Ms Pascoe above.

The only other alternative would be to charge away supporters £14 to sit in half the Air Wair stand, segregate it as in the old days and allow any other Diamonds fans to sit there for the same amount.
At most grounds you have to pay a premium to sit either side of pitch.

I'm concerned that casual support won't be forthcoming since many won't play £17 if they wish to stand on the De Banke terrace.

Ok now I don't want to bitch about KC and I can see why he would raise the prices. However, he wasn't forced to raise the prices was he? He could've put the prices at £14 across the board, he could've maybe used the Jackson money to plug the gap that would've been made from not raising the prices to £17. If we're in such a bad financial position to have to need to raise the prices to £17 rather than £14 then why aren't we selling Tomlin for £150k? I don't want to start a massive argument I just want to make the point.

Actually I have no problems with the club. As I said in my post, I don't understand the Conference board for forcing this on the club.

Would they have been pissed off though? Your season ticket holders are your hardcore support, I'm sure they'd understand if it was in the club's best interests to get more fans in.

I don't think the club knew this directive was coming before they decided on pricing for this year. It seems to have come completely out of the blue.

I know the Conference is a shambolic league but I give them more credit than to just thrust a directive onto the clubs a month before the start of the season. I doubt we'll find out though, however I still think that the price could've been set at £15 without any problems with ST holders getting angry.
