Youths v Harborough Town

Post by davealbon »

The Youth team somehow lost 2-1 to Harborough Town tonight, despite dominating the game from start to finish and squandering countless good scoring chances. I'm not sure who scored our goal, but he is a central midfielder (I assume a 1st year) and was Man of the Match IMO. We hit the woodwork a couple of times before taking the lead just before half time, and forced several good saves from their 'keeper, but got caught on the break a few times in the second half which was when Harborough scored their goals. We had what looked like a legitimate goal disallowed late on when the 'keeper fumbled a cross into the back of the net, although a very harsh free kick was awarded for an alleged foul.
Harborough deservedly beat an apparently strong Forest Green side 2-1 a few weeks ago, which bodes well for our games against them this season as our Youth's should have put at least 5 past Harborough tonight!

You won't believe this but he's a centre midfielder on trial, who apparently, I am reliably informed is Garry Hills son (Jake)!

   Oh no! I hope your source is as reliable as Barton Raz's! ;) Now you mention it, his first name is definitely Jake, although there was a Jake Hall who played against Banbury. I'm not sure if he is the same one.

Joking aside, whoever he is he had an excellent game and looked physically more developed than most players his age.

If he is GH's son, he's probably been having 'nutting' practise since he was a kid.

You could have 140 years of no achievement, or twenty years of glorious victories, you decide.

Report now on the OWS: http://www.thediamondsfc.com/page/Youth ... 01,00.html

Confirmed that it was Jake Hall who scored our goal, so unlikely to be Garry Hill's son!
