Re: Bath match thread
In truth, it was constant Diamonds pressure for all but ten minutes in the first half. Bath had 2 shots and scored them both. Our attack however is completely toothless.
Johnson looked good when he came on and added to our midfield.
A decision needs to be made on Howe. It is so clear he doesn't want to be here.

Must still be worth a run out though.

I did have concerns about what his attitude was going to be like, when he was looking for a club, we were always going to be his second option and when he couldn't find a league club, then it was presumably BSP football here or nothing, although he isn't exactly going to help himself by not bothering in the BSP that's for sure.BartonRaz wrote:In truth, it was constant Diamonds pressure for all but ten minutes in the first half. Oh one more thing. Justin spent a lot of the first half screaming at Justin Miller. It continued in a similar veign in the second half until JE brought him off and shifted Corcoran across, so i wonder if we'll see him in the starting line up at the weekend.

Now i did mention my fears over signing Howe, but i was told he is young and would be up to prove his worth, hmm i still think he is another Clare and our team spirit could be ruined by his signing, i just hope he proves me wrong and picks up his game.

Re: Bath match thread
I left the ground last night feeling very disappointed with Howe, but on reflection I'm not sure it was deserved. For the entire game he had two defenders on him, both of whom were pulling his shirt and generally trying to wind him up. They got away with it for the entire game, yet as soon as Howe had a go back at them he ended up in the book.
He did really well to set up the goal for Porter, and there were a couple of half chances that were created thanks to his strength and hold up play. It certainly wasn't a great performance by him (and he should have scored the chance at the end of the first half, or squared it to Faz) but given the abuse he was taking from the Bath defence you can't really blame him.

Really appreciate your views on Howe Dave. Didn't go because I had to be up at 6 this morning. What were your thoughts on the whole side last night?davealbon wrote:I left the ground last night feeling very disappointed with Howe, but on reflection I'm not sure it was deserved. I'd echo what Dave said - Howe was the Diamonds player all of the home fans / press within earshot were talking about at half-time as they clearly saw him as the main threat, and were highlighting he is with a League One club etc - but the booking late in the first half cramped his style quite a bit. I'm amazed somebody thought he lacked commitment - my concern was that he might pick up a second yellow as he went in hard on the keeper a couple of times in the second half.Mad Dog wrote:Really appreciate your views on Howe Dave. The whole team performed much better - the first half display reminded me of the performance we put on at Hayes - but without getting that key second goal. It's a good while since I saw so much width from a Diamonds side (and midfielders prepared to use it) - and given that was Green's debut, he did well, and as his teammates get used to his strengths he'll contribute even more (and he looks a decent free-kick / corner taker).
