Apart from odd individual errors (which unfortunately have cost us several points) the defence looks reasonably solid. The problem is lack of creativity and confidence going forward - too many players are shirking the responsibility of attempting things which may not come off (obviously we are missing Tommo in that respect).
I think a fully match fit O'Connor will make a big difference but we need better service from wide positions - Green looks talented but so far has flattered to deceive, and we have no natural wide right player that will get behind defences.
It is far too early to write the season off but we do need to get some consistancy in results soon.

Well Green has 3 "assists" in 7 games and looks less and less likely to beat a man with each passing game, that's a poor return for a wide player in my book so I'd drop him and try Day. With Tommo, we always knew he'd create something out of nothing even in the build up play, with Green you can't see that happening. So far, he's overrated IMO.

An assist roughly every other game, no matter how much you dismiss the assist themselve, is a very good return to have. Unless you are being fickle and expecting him to score and claim an assist every game. On your last point, do you know where we could pick up an exact replacement for Tomlin for free or on the cheap?

On an un-football related note (but relevant to the thread title);

Was anyone else tempted to post 'Is it down to the lake I fear?'

I think maybe we're doing a bit of The Overreaction Forum to be honest. We were shit obviously, but we went on a really shit run of 3 defeats at the end of September 2009 and emerged from it stronger. I think the same will happen this time, Justin will make some changes and Aaron coming back will really help and our next few fixtures look rather nice if we can get back into gear:

Southport A
Histon H
Crawley H
Eastbourne A
Alty A
Darlington H

Am I being optimistic to suggest that we'll get 14 points from an available 18?

My point was that for a player to come from a League 1 club, and by all accounts chased by several other clubs, his effectiveness during a game is pretty poor IMO. I'd expect 3 assists from any bog standard BSBP winger at this time of the season. Obviously there's never another Tomlin, but we should at least expect some return for the money we're spendng. If you're happy with all these defeats and "performances" well good for you, I'm not. ;) I'm funny that way :lol:
