Will we ever see a near-full Nene Park.....
for a league game again in the near future...? If we move up a league or 2 what would you expect attendances to be? When I first started watching when we was in league 2 I used to sit in the south stand, which was near full, the north stand would be full, the PDB would be full and the Airwair had a few homes fans in. Do you think were capable of getting that again if we get promoted?

I think the only time we will ever see an attendance above 5,000 now/if we get promoted is if we play one of the big-6 in an FA Cup Tie. I think even if we played Northampton if we got promoted/they got relegated, they would bring more fans than us!

We might see a full NP if we draw Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool or (maybe) Tottenham.
No chance in the near-future for a league game, though. Even if we got promoted I don't think we'd see more than 2500 for home games, and I think the main increase would be due to more away fans. To get crowds of +4000 again we'd need, I think, two promotions, a dramatic upturn in the economy and reduced prices.

To be honest even with promotion I'd see us averaging between 1500-2000, closer to 1500.

That would only rise if we played some teams with decent following, i.e. Bradford, OxfordHarry wrote:To be honest even with promotion I'd see us averaging between 1500-2000, closer to 1500.

On the way down we were only getting 2000-2500 so no, not unless we do something miraculous.

Yeah was thinking the same for the amount of home fans that is, if we can only just get over 2000 home fans (less than what we were averaging before we came down from L2) for a playoff game then I don't think we'd be able to match crowds of old times even if we did go up. Would be very annoying cause promotion in our situation now would be a far bigger achievement than any promotion we had in the past with all that money, suppose we'd just have to hope those fans that deserted us all those years ago would see it in the same way.Harry wrote:To be honest even with promotion I'd see us averaging between 1500-2000, closer to 1500.

i know loads of people who would never step foot in nene park because its 'shit football' so they spend their sat afternoons watching soccer satuday or shopping
most people who do attend will have had another team they followed before the merger but somehow found themselves coming to a game and have grown to love this club over the years. we are only 18 years old so not many people will have supported the club from birth!!!
which is why we need to get the kids involved while they are still young and before they follow their old mans choice of man u or chelsea. if more kids attended regularly then in 10 years or so they will bring freinds along and the fanbase will start to grow
for example my son goes to a school very close to rushden towns original ground, a few weeks back they had a mufti day where all the kids had to wear red. i sent the lad to school proudly sporting the old home shirt (the red one!! with MOTO sponser). i saw kids in arsenal, man u, even spain shirts!!
when i asked him what his friends thought of his top he told me .................no one likes rushden diamonds and he got laughed at!!
no ones got any money these days and at the min its too expensive to watch the standard of football on display.
unless we got in the prem one day or we get a big tie in the cup dont think we will fill nene park not for a few years anyway!

Re: Will we ever see a near-full Nene Park.....
Boxing day should be a 5000 + crowd. Unless there is a drop in prices and the club make a real effort to attract the fans in with a massive PR push,I think there will still be an average of 1200/1300 if promotion is achieved. The only real boost in attendances would come from visiting suppoerters.
