The best driver clearly won the title, as did the best team win the Constructors title. I was a bit worried that Hamilton and Kubica might take each other off at one point which might have made things pretty tense.

Those who criticised Red Bull for not letting Webber past Vettel last week look a bit silly now.

Great coverage from the BBC throughout the season, capped by the "T-N-T" sequence in the Red Bull area - just a shame that Jonathan Legard can't tell the difference between a front and rear wing on the Lotus, and had to be reminded by Martin Brundle to wait until at least the first four had crossed the line.

While you're quite right about the wing thing (I laughed rather than getting angry) even the guys on 5live (heard their commentary later) didn't bother waiting. If Fred had passed Petrov he still wouldn't have won, it required an even bigger swing than 08.

That's quite sad really, I thought he had a relatively decent season - lets hope he gets a drive with a decent team for 2011.

It's come out today that was happened was as follows.

Williams need the money from a pay driver as RBS and Phillips have pulled out and Air Asia are owned by Tony Fernandes so are going to Lotus/1 Malaysia. Williams also want to keep Rubens as his experience in developing a car is invaluable.

So, they offered the Hulk a long term deal. It would have seen him spend next season at HRT with a pay driver, presumably Maldonado, replacing him. Then, when Rubens retires, he'd have a seat at Williams to return to the year after.

The Hulk turned this down, he has also said he refuses to find any sponsors to help him get a drive (rather silly as all drivers bring sponsors, even the top ones). His agent, Willi Weber, has said he will get him another drive for 2011. Unfortunately for the Hulk there aren't any obvious ones as of now.
