I thought we played badly. Only O'Connor, Osano and Huke looked interested. Obviously the sending off was harsh but it was a rash tackle on a dangerously wet pitch. We were better in the last ten minutes with Sills and Faz on. Abuse at Rankine was immature and unnecessary - but he had the last laugh as he showed us what we are sadly lacking up front. I'd exchange him for Howe any day. Howe tries but has not been half the player he was before his injury. With Jamie Day, Howe, Osano and probably Corcs out next week, I think we'll struggle, even against FGR. It's surely time for Sam Smith to come to the rescue. He was there today but Justin seems to have forgotten all about him.

..Unfortunately i missed the red card, a player was blocking my view so can't comment, but it would obviously have made a big difference on the outcome.
It was not a sending off. Day got to the ball first, then the other bloke just started rolling about like a twat after Day went into him.

If I knew that the FA would reply, then I would be writing to them about general performance of Refs at a number of games I've been to this season. They can't keep getting the shit refs at BSP games. Winning games brings in money from attendance increase.. When you get twats in the black like we had today, the club will lose money. People who didn't go today will just think we got stuffed, we didn't. We probably had more possession than them.

Tbh, I don't know how we finished with 10 men with how card happy he was.

i thought the free kick for their first goal was probably the softest i've ever seen. we were guilty of trying to walk it in the net all afternoon too.

Yes, he was a fussy ref who made several poor decisions, and seemed determined to punish us for the abuse he was receiving. But what were we doing for that free kick? We put about 7 men in the wall and no one on the line. We then stood in bewildered amazement as their player decided to shoot. Diamonds got a free kick in a similar position late in the game and Faz - of all people, who used to be so deadly with a dead ball - hardly managed to disturb their wall at all. For their second goal we were admittedly stretched at the back with only three defenders but no-one bothered to tackle their winger, just as eveyone seemed to stand by politely to let their guy get through to lob Joe for number three. We were so bad today that even the old guy who sits near me constantly abusing Rene Howe was reduced to silence! Perhaps if our crowd had got behind the team instead of the infantile abuse of Rankine, the ref, K*ttering and Marcus Kelly, the team might have felt like responding in a more positive way. A match to forget.

Fair point about the atmosphere. It was like a library at times.

Did anyone else see how discrete marcus kelly was trying to be, his mate and gf forced him to go since he didnt have a game. He covered his face with his coat and the pdb still
notice him. Cant blame him for trying to hide, on the point of players watching robinson was in front of me i was surprise how quiet he was

I expect JE's become frustrated with the refs having caused us so many problems lately, that's why he suddenly come out and said something. Quite right too. I didn't think Day's offence was a sending off, but once it's happened we were always going to be up against it. A confident York side didn't really threaten to wallop us, but did catch us napping. Other than that I think we played ok, we could have had a couple of goals with a bit more accuracy/ luck. O'Connor curled one wide, Johno hit the post and Rene was pulled back in the box which yet another ref didn't give. He also booked one of our players in the second half for a perfect interception (Osano?) and Howe after being fouled! York had the rub of the ref, and a little bit of quality, other than that I saw nothing between the two teams.
Smith hasn't been forgotten, he hasn't been available due to injury !
We still have Robbo and Miller to come into the team at the back, which (IMO) is a better back 4. Jamie Day's been on the edge of being booked recently and I think it's time to bring Roberts back just to freshen it up. Joe's done little wrong (I thought he should have stayed on his line for their 3rd) but maybe his confidence is waning and we need our top quality players to steady the ship.
