Congratulations Max Porter (I think!)

Post by davealbon »

Hopefully Noddy will confirm this, but I'm pretty sure that Max Porter broke Billy Turley's record for the most consecutive competitive (excluding Hillier/Maunsell cup) appearances yesterday.

Turley played 57 consecutive games between 13/10/01 and 19/10/02, which Max has now surpassed, playing a part in all 58 games since 03/10/09. The game before that (the 1-0 defeat at home to the Wombles) is the only game he has missed since joining the club.

He still has some way to go to break Garry Butterworth's record of 105 consecutive league games though!

Nice to see someone is keeping up with the stats. :)

I believe Max Porter has now played 59 consecutive games since 3 October last year (50 League, 2 Play-offs, 5 FA Cup, 2 FA Trophy). As you say, the AFC Wimbledon game on 29 September 2009 is the only game he has missed, although he was on the bench (unused).

This does surpass Billy Turley who I think actually played 56 consecutive games in the 2001/2002 and 2002/2003 seasons (48 League, 3 Play-offs, 2 FA Cup, 2 League Cup, 1 League Trophy).

I believe Turley also played in the Conference Championship Shield game against Chester, although I'm never sure if those games count as first team matches. I suppose it's the non-league equivalent of the Charity Shield, which does count as a first team game.

You're right about Porter, I somehow missed one of last season's games. I'm glad his record breaking game turned out not to be the York one!

Max isn't a dirty player, nor is he a cheat. Why on earth would the fat c**t want to sign a player like that?
