Gary Calder
While enjoying the excellent full English in the Kimberley Suite this morning (just about the only positive from my visit to Nene Park today), I had a chat with Gary Calder, who, along with Liam Beasant, made the effort to speak to all the supporters in there.
The two of them have already been very busy in trying to generate some much needed income. They have agreed a deal with Charles Wells brewery, as we are currently without a brewery contract. A new music academy will be opened I think on the A6 training pitch (GC said something like "on the land over the road", so I assume he meant there) which is worth a "six figure fee" for the club. They are looking at ways to benefit from the new NHS centre on the other side of Diamond Way, and there is actually more development planned for the land there (although I can't remember what he said it was) which they will also try to take advantage of. Calder said that the lack of income through the club's facilities is "embarrassing", something which Cousins admits as well, the problem in the past being that KC could only affort to spend one day a week at the club. A full time commercial manager/director will be appointed soon who will concentrate on maximising income through these channels. We also asked about JE's new contract, which is all but finalised and should be signed next week, although I forgot to ask about the hotel plans.
I also spoke to Gill Wignall about the new owners, and she was very positive about them. She said they are very hands on and have both been at the club every day since they takeover was announced (and for some time prior to that).
The only concern I have, which I put to GC, is the relationship between the club and the NVQ company, Planning Bureau Developments. The financial security of the club will be very closely linked to the success of this company, and my worry is that should things go wrong with PB Devs, then then future of the club could be in jeopardy. GC agreed that this is a risk, but that it's no different to the situation at most clubs. He also said that they expect PB Devs to turn over between £4-5million next year.

Not sure about charles wells.the company has been known as wells young for over two years.i was told it was greene king.mind you wells young do supply fosters lager.although i do enjoy a good greene king ipa.
I don't think he would have meant the a6 training ground.that is flooded more than not.and to build an academy would take years.he might mean the buildings next door.i think some of those are empty.
Do rdfc not already have a sports type academy with football cv?

Hi. Weymouth fan here.
Been very interested in developments re the Calder/Beasant takeover.
A word of warning.......take any promises and/or ideas with great care. We know only too well what can happen with that sort of thing.
We were sold a lot of big ideas that were going to rake in loads of cash, most ended up COSTING the club money, money we did not have.
Things were looked at here re getting non matchday income streams, the only thing that worked was the launch of a truckers cafe on weekdays.
However.....our stadium compared to yours is totally different, you have a good setup there, if they cant get things going there, then I dont know where they will.
Good luck to you all, I will be cheking back from time to time to see how things
are going.

footballcv is a separate company who rent office and training space from us. It is not part of rdfc as such.

FootballCV is owned or part owned by the Owners of Corby Town, I think that they still have 2 years on the contract to use our facilities and i would assume after that they would move to new facilities at Corby.Cotty wrote:footballcv is a separate company who rent office and training space from us. The intentions i got from from the interviews was to have a Mini Campus built at Nene Park using our planning for the hotel and offering Sports Science courses and other NVQ,s on site.

This is indeed a big worry and as for £4-5million they don't even appear to have a web site, very strange where all this money is coming from.davealbon wrote: The only concern I have, which I put to GC, is the relationship between the club and the NVQ company, Planning Bureau Developments. The bit underlined is key. Let's wait and see what happens before expecting the end of the world. You're starting to sound like Ted or ChelseaDave.coltrane wrote:This is indeed a big worry and as for £4-5million they don't even appear to have a web site, very strange where all this money is coming from.davealbon wrote: The only concern I have, which I put to GC, is the relationship between the club and the NVQ company, Planning Bureau Developments. Re: Gary Calder
davealbion says that what Calder said their expected turnover would be for next year. i.e.We obviously need to wait because the turnouver that is expected to happen in 2011 hasn't happened yet. And neither you nor me can judge them on that particular piece of information that you've highlighted in your original post until then.:roll:coltrane wrote:Yeah! well wait and see is all we can do isn't it?
