A very sad loss indeed, a gentleman of the football world and a great ambassador to the sport, I feel honoured to have watched you play at Nene Park and thank you for sharing your time with us, a real Diamond legend. My thoughts and prayers go out to Dales family and friends of their sad loss.

Hi everyone. Can I start by saying how kind and comforting a lot of the things said on here have been to myself and to many others.

I live in the village of horden where dale is from. To say the whole community is in shock is a massive understatement. He was well loved and respected by all that new him, and as a community with such a football passion everyone was immensely proud that one of our own was doing so well in the game.

I grew up with and played alongside dales older brother, and was one of many players who filed through the ranks of his mams 5 a side teams. I can't imagine how they are feeling at this time.

I also run a Sunday league side, and spoke to dale on occasion about him playing for me one day. He agreed to do so, on the proviso I bought him a pint and a bag of quavers after every game. I would have been honoured to do so, and will definitely do so this Sunday in his memory. A lot of my players grew up with dale and are naturally devastated.

A few of us were looking forward to your game at Gateshead in February, as were had planned to attend. I will be suggesting to the lads that we still do so, as a tribute to dales memory.

Southampton fan here, commiserations to the club, the fans and the family of Dale Roberts. So young and had a lot to look forward too.

RIP Dale Roberts.

Deepest condolences from everyone at Northampton. Sounds like Dale was a top lad from reading your memories of him on here, and for someone to lose their life at such a young age is a genuine tragedy. Football has lost a promising young talent and someone with a genuine love for the game and Rushden and Diamonds as a club. Rest in peace.

Sincere condolences from an Exeter City fan. We've known heartache recently as you will probably know when we lost our Stanno, Adam Stansfield.

Our thoughts go out to his family/friends and all at Rushden and Diamonds at this tragic time

I remember watching him play for Forest's youth team and reserves ... he obviously had great talent, and I always felt sure he'd make it. Was delighted to hear that he was making a name for himself at Rushden, and devastated to hear the news last night.

The thoughts and sympathies of everyone at Nottingham Forest are with Dale's friends and family.
