Re: Renaming a stand after Dale
Naming a stand after Dale wouldn't stop any future sponsorship anyway, its enhance it, for example, Adidas sponsors of the Dale Roberts Stand, Weetabix sponsors of the Dale Roberts Stand etc.
Being sponsors of a stand named after a much loved and respected player would actually enhance the reputation of any sponsor in my opinion. I see no reason why this couldn't happen, we named the De Banke Stand after a much respected player and personally I think it'd be a fitting tribute, as would retiring the number 1 shirt. I think both should be done.

Good point. I know I'd love to go to a game in the Dale Roberts stand

very good point and with that in mind it may even make it easier to get sponshership with people wanting to sponsor the stand as a result of the news coverage etc.
R.I.P Dale Roberts, Never Forgotten.
Re: Renaming a stand after Dale
I fully support this idea and much more so than the retiring of the shirt which doesn't quite seem right to me - I agree with WWODB's views as to why.
But I'm surprised that no-one's yet mentioned renaming the Airwair; after all, it is a side of the ground with a goal in it, where Dale spent half of his games with us, and the current name is very out-of-date anyway, unless we're still linking it to Max in a roundabout way and that's why people don't want to change it. Surely if a stand is to be renamed, it must be the East Stand.

Our fans are never in the Airwair though, if it was the North/South Stand then our fans would always be in his stand.

R.I.P Dale. We will never forget you.

Pigman makes a good point however. If that's the case then i'm all for it.

Could also have his shirt placed on the metal pole which keeps the goal upright perhaps before each game, just a thought, probably already been mentioned.

I've got an idea, how about if we were to move the home end to the Airwair? Maybe we should have a poll. ;)Sara Pascoe wrote:Our fans are never in the Airwair though, if it was the North/South Stand then our fans would always be in his stand.

Don't think there is much chance of getting a stand name changed. How about 'The Dale Roberts Suite' for a box name?
