I'm looking forward to this one, so hopefully it will be ok to go ahead, although it is probably 50 -50 at the moment.

Snow isn't an issue so far in Rushden, feels like we're the only place in the country that doesn't have much :( The freezing temperatures are the big issue and they're not forecast to be above freezing much between now and Sunday with some severe frosts overnight. I'd be surprised if we can the game on to be honest :(

What do we think?:

With an overnight forecast of minus 5C for Christmas Day/Boxing Day and the daytime forecast for minus 1C I would think that there is zero chance that this fixture will go ahead. Towcester Races have already been cancelled.

I can't see it going ahead either. We had quite abit of snow in Rushden last night, and there is more to come!

A small amount of snow on the covers can be a good thing. However, once the covers are removed then the pitch at Nene Park usually freezes along the South Stand touchline even when other parts may be playable.

i was going to post a thread about this, i can't see it being on especially as the temperature is unwilling to get into positive figures and with more snow and freezing temperatures forecast. its a shame i haven't seen rushden play in ages now due to being at uni - i don't think the FA trophy match really counted as us playing

A blessing in disguise, I doubt if any of the players are in the right frame of mind to bother about playing football at the moment. Personally I think it'd be good if all the games, Luton (x2), Grimsby and K*ttering were called off. I think, until Dale is laid to rest it'll be hard for them to get their heads together - after that, they can focus on winning the title for him - what greater motivation do they need?

Understand you sentiments PM but that's a long time without a game which means none in December. I'm pretty sure neither the players, coaching staff or management/owners would want that. I believe the only way to move on from this tradgedy is to return to some form of normality.
With resperct, life has to move on and not playing games only keeps people in the void they are in now. And not meaning to sound mercenary and callous, it's a long time for the club to go without any income.

Of course there may be an enforced winter break anyway - and who knows how long that may last?
